The Royal Warrant

Carcase Specification

In 40 years of co-operation with housing associations and local authorities, Manhattan has learnt some valuable lessons about constructing strong, easy-to-maintain, value-for-money kitchens.

All Manhattan furniture is built around a single standard carcase that addresses the most common maintenance problems of kitchens in public sector housing. Because the Manhattan carcase is standard throughout the range, all features described are included at no extra cost.

METAL-SIDED DRAWER SYSTEM manufactured from press formed high quality steel with a solid MFC base to provide a durable, punishment-resisting drawer with self-closing action and silent running rollers; tested to 37.5kg over 80,000 cycles.

ADJUSTABLE LEGS keep the carcase clear of the floor and any moisture or flooding; allow more accurate levelling of units on uneven floors (especially useful in refurbishments); give easier access to pipework, ducting, etc; and allow the flooring to be laid after installation of the kitchen units.

TOUGH BRITISH STANDARD RAW MATERIALS 16mm high density melamine-faced particle board, with all exposed carcase ends being lipped with PVC edging using a combination of hot melt glue, heat and pressure.

UNIQUE LEG SOCKET that takes the strain. Manhattan’s unique socket is an altogether more robust item than the usual flimsy design supplied by other manufacturers. It is square-shaped and with a wider section to absorb accidental impact. In addition, it is designed to act as a glide, making it easier to manoeuvre the unit around on-site.

CONCEALED CAM FITTINGS fitted to base, wall and tall units not only provide the necessary rigidity and strength to the carcase, but also keep panels free from unsightly cover caps.

SOLID REMOVABLE BACK PANELS to base units can be removed without the need for tools for quick and easy access to pipe work, electrics etc. Manufactured from 16mm MFC for extra strength and durability.

172o 3-WAY ADJUSTABLE HINGES to all base and tall units to allow full access and prevent accidental damage to the door and carcase. (Wall Units have 110o as standard, with the option of 172o)

ADJUSTABLE SHELVES for good ergonomics and ease of use.
